Aventon Level 2 commuter electric bicycle e-bike torque sensor

Aventon has announced the second generation of the Level, called Level 2. We loved the Level when we reviewed it, and it has sold like hotcakes. The one thing we always thought it was missing was a torque sensor. We even mentioned that in the review. Well, now they’ve addressed that, providing a torque sensor. Torque sensors add a more natural ride feel, matching your pedaling force with the motors, versus a cadence-only sensor that will get you up to your chosen power level’s speed regardless of you actually putting in any effort at the pedal. Torque sensors also tend to have the motor kick in right away, instead of having to pedal up to a full revolution for the power to kick in.

It’s a Class 3 e-bike, so it can go up to 20 mph on the throttle and 28 mph with pedal assist. There’s an 8-speed drivetrain, a 672Wh battery that should get most riders around 40 miles of pedal assist or up to 25 with throttle-only. There’s integrated lighting, hydraulic disc brakes, 27.5×2.1″ tires, and a sturdy rear rack. You can buy them from Aventon direct, or from your local shop that sells Aventon.
